Statement
Josue Bessiake is an African American painter working in Beverly Massachusettes whose work is heavily influenced by his environment. He was born to two parents who immigrated from Côté d'Ivoire in 1993. Growing up, his family bounced around the Midwest, allowing him to observe a multitude of settings and environments that brought his intrigue into the structure of his surroundings, consistently asking why things are the way they are and how can be transformed. This intrigue led to a brief but informative study of the sciences specifically physics at university that greatly influences his work as he transitioned to a concentration in the arts. His newfound determination to delve into the arts has allowed Josue to gain accolades at his respective institution for his work and be featured in several shows across New England.
